1 Day - Introduction to Sea Kayaking Course
Port Philip Bay
The Introduction to Sea Kayaking Course is a fun way to get started
in sea kayaking and is especially designed
for first-time paddlers.
Held on just Sundays,
the Into. to Sea Kayaking courses are held every 4 weeks on Port Philip Bay.
This
course is a condensed version of the 2 day course but is certainly not a
compromise on quality or instruction. Covering safety features of the
kayaks, stroke technique and rescues along with a scenic tour in real
sea kayak territory.
Get a solid grounding in fundamental sea kayaking skills whilst focusing
on your safety and enjoyment on the water all under expert tuition.
This
course is held on Port Philip in usually sheltered conditions.

2 Day - Fundamentals of Sea Kayaking Course -
Wilsons Prom or
Port
Philip Bay
A 2 day fundamentals course in sea kayaking held at either the "Prom"
or on Port Philip Bay.
Meeting at the beach on the Saturday, the course kicks off with a
thorough safety briefing,
introduction to basic kayak features and then moves to the water for paddling
/ stroke technique tuition to ensure energy efficient and injury free paddling.
The afternoon is devoted to safety aspects and rescues.
Sunday at the Prom moves to either the surf at Norman Beach for solid rough weather
training or to Corner Inlet to put it all together with trip planning
/ preparation and an attempt to reach Bennison Is.
Sunday on Port Philip Bay moves to Sorrento to put it all together with
trip planning and preparation with an attempt to reach South Channel
Fort.
During either trip receiving expert coaching in paddling technique to fill in the
gaps of the previous day as well as navigation and pilotage.

4 Day Extended Sea Kayak Course.
Wilsons Prom - Sea kayaking Mecca.
Enjoy four full days of
sea kayaking instruction while cruising around majestic granite islands,
remote ocean beaches,
exploring numerous coves and bays and experiencing the thrills of sea
kayaking
on the open sea.
This course starts with the fundamentals of energy efficient and injury
prevention paddling techniques along with safety issues and rescues.
From there students are progressed through sea kayak surf negotiation,
proficient bracing / support strokes, open sea paddling techniques and
of course rolling after a capsize.
A full day is devoted to touring or trip execution with navigation,
pilotage, weather, tides and planning issues explored in detail.
(Apart from the skills and knowledge gained, touring Corner Inlet is an
eco touring experience in itself.)
